Local CAA Spotlight: Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council

WEOC CEO featured as a panelist in a Virtual Summit hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
James Pasley, the CEO of Waccamaw EOC was featured as a panelist in a Virtual Summit hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in partnership with the Southeast Region 4 Office of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families.  The summit topic was Reframing Benefits Cliffs: Solutions for an Inclusive Recovery.  The summit promoted a shared understanding of benefits cliffs challenges, and opportunities, and highlighted action that can drive an inclusive recovery and strengthen communities.

WEOC featured in webinar on Designing Better Programs to Support Young Parent Families
The National Community Action Partnership, Third Sector held a webinar to discuss the importance of elevating young parent families as a priority population and its importance of leveraging a 2Gen approach within Community Action Agencies.

Third Sector provided an overview of The Southeastern Cohort on Young Parents and Families, comprised of the Kentucky Department of Family Support, the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services and WEOC.  The Southeastern Cohort is working to enhance and align programs, policies, and systems to better support young parents (ages 16-24) and their families.

As a member of the Southeastern Cohort, WEOC shared insights from the process of designing STEP UP - a new pilot focused on better supporting young parents through intensive case management.  A key topic included how to measure program performance to achieve 2Gen outcomes using ROMA in conjunction with ongoing young parent and provider feedback…
