SCACAP Introduces Statewide Youth Leadership Website

SCACAP Statewide Youth Leadership Virtual Academy
The Statewide Youth Leadership Virtual Academy is a website portal that will provide educational curriculum and resources to increase social, emotional, financial literacy, team building, academic, career and employment, and other vital skills for the youth in South Carolina.  This academy will also provide top presenters to share professional development opportunities, youth forums, and networking opportunities.

The Virtual Academy is safe and monitored for youth to continue their learning and relationships while they may be separated due to COVID-19.  This portal is made available by designated SCACAP Staff to youth, counselors, and parents and is accessible 24/7 from any computer at any time.

SCACAP Spotlights Local CAA Youth Leadership Program

Palmetto Community Action Partnership
The Summer Youth Works! program is part of Palmetto CAP's Employment and Education’s Youth Leadership program. Summer Youth Works! provides youth in high school and college the opportunity to participate in a paid summer internship…As part of the Summer Youth Works! program, their Asset Building department issued a Summer Savings Challenge to teach budgeting and saving skills…

Palmetto CAP added a new component this year with the Money Rockstars leading this savings challenge…In addition to adding the Rockstars, Asset Building decided to issue a video challenge to the youth asking them to tell what their experience this summer taught them.  This approach was to receive more feedback from the students as well as find new ways to share what this local CAA is doing with their community…
