ACCESS partnered with local film company Heartisan Film to create a video that communicates the importance of the services ACCESS provides and how it makes a difference every day in the lives of people in Jackson County. The six-minute film features vignettes of actual client stories as portrayed by ACCESS team members. It serves as a tribute to the ACCESS community, team members, volunteers, and donors. The film also provides space to recognize and honor the stories of those receiving assistance from ACCESS – learn more and view the film.
Rural youth homelessness is prevalent both within Oregon and across the country. Chapin Hall's Voices of Youth Count initiative released a brief on rural youth homelessness. They confirm that rates of homelessness for youth are the same in rural areas as they are in urban areas, yet the experience of homelessness can be quite different for rural youth. For instance, many rural counties lack services designed for homeless youth, forcing many of them to go to other cities or counties to find support – read the full report.
Homes For Good Housing Agency is about to start construction on a new 51-unit project in Eugene called The Commons on MLK. The project will utilize a Housing First Supported Housing model with supports available 24 hours a day through an array of on-site providers – learn more about The Commons on MLK from Homes for Good and news coverage in The Register-Guard.
