Network News & Successes

Recovering from the Memorial Day Tornadoes
Twenty-one tornadoes ranging from EF0 to EF4 were counted across west- and south-central Ohio during Memorial Day weekend. Winds as high as 170 mph came quickly and hit hard, one of which—now labeled as the strongest tornado in Montgomery County’s history—destroyed 19 miles of homes, trees, vehicles, land, and more in its path.

The tornadoes came fast, though the recovery will take time—years, by some estimates. Families have been displaced, and many have had to start from scratch replacing not only their homes but their clothing, furniture, transportation, and more. Lifeline Honors Residents, Organizations at 2019 Annual Awards Dinner
Lifeline, Inc., Lake County’s Community Action Agency, is pleased to announce its 2019 award winners and to recognize agency volunteers and community partners for their commitment to Lake County’s low-income citizen – read more.

Annual Senior Companion Program Recognition dinner held at Lake White Club
“Thirty-two Senior Companions sponsored by the Pike Community Action Committee , as well as those sponsored by the Adams-Brown County Community Action agencies” were honored at the event – read more.

Pilot program at Centennial Park
Community Action Agency of Columbiana County’s Head Start Program has launched a Preschool in the Park — a pilot program engaging preschool aged children through music, movement and literacy activities – read more.

State of Poverty in Ohio 2019
Earlier this month, OACAA released the 2019 State of Poverty in Ohio Report during a press conference at the Statehouse.
