Great Lakes CAP launches Marine Trade apprenticeship program
Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted along with officials from the State of Ohio joined Great Lakes Community Action Partnership at a launch ceremony for Ohio’s first Marine Trades Apprenticeship program on May 9 at Lakefront Marina in Port Clinton.  The launch event took place during Ohio’s In-Demand Jobs Week – read more.

OMJ Pike holds second annual job fair expo
The Workforce & Business Development Program of the Community Action Committee of Pike County , along with OhioMeansJobs-Pike County, joined forces with the Pike County Career Technology Center to host The Second Annual Job Fair Expo on Wednesday, May 8 in Piketon – read more in The Pike County News Watchman.

Give the Youngest Victims of the Opioid Epidemic a 'Head Start' in Life
Andrea is a former Community Action Akron Summit Head Start grandmother raising her grandchildren, and was named Head Start Parent-Volunteer of the Year – read the testimony.

WOCAP and other agencies host Bike Rodeo

Dozens of children came out to the West Ohio Community Action Partnership for the Bike Rodeo.  Kids got the opportunity to participate in bike safety courses with the Lima Police Department and the Lima Park Rangers.  They also got their bikes repaired, participated in several activities and had the chance to win a free bike – learn more.

Registration NOW OPEN! Annual Summer Conference
The OACAA Annual Summer Conference registration is now open!  Open to all Community Action professionals across Ohio, this year's conference offers a complete History of the War on Poverty, Family Development Certification, and tracks focusing on advocacy, fiscal/human resources topics, and a one-day core essentials track.
