Reentry ROCKS!

NEW Reentry Celebrates Reentry Week
Governor Roy Cooper proclaimed April 23-27, 2018 as Reentry Week in North Carolina to draw attention to efforts to help formerly incarcerated people become productive members of their communities.

In observance of “Reentry Week” the N.C. Community Action Association hosted several activities to celebrate reentry success in Nash, Edgecombe and Wilson counties.  Hundreds of local citizens attended the events which included two Reentry Resource Fairs, a State of Reentry Luncheon and Rock the Block Party.  NC Attorney General Josh Stein and Secretary Rueben Young provided comments during the Rock the Block event.

NCCAA Celebrates...

...the conclusion of PNC Foundation’s Homes Energy and Neighborhood Beautification Program with the completion of 52 homes
The Association has just completed a two-year, $250,000 healthy homes beautification initiative funded by the PNC Foundation for income-qualified clients living in North Carolina.  The Homes Energy and Neighborhood Beautification Improvement Program provided eligible low-income homeowners with external, home beautification upgrades, financial literacy and home maintenance education.  The program began in 2015 and was completed this year.  The North Carolina Community Action Association was selected to administer this grant from the PNC Foundation.

NCCAA Opioid Forum: View the Broadcast

UNC-TV Public Media North Carolina (PMNC) proudly partners with the North Carolina Community Action Association for the 2018 Opioid Forum...PMNC’s special coverage includes A Crisis: North Carolina’s Opioid Battle, featuring leading political, healthcare and law enforcement officials sharing information about the state’s response to opioid abuse and local stories exploring how communities are creating innovative solutions to the issue.  The PMNC team also traveled to Columbus County for an up-close look at the ways in which one county is responding to the plight in A Crisis: NC’s Opioid Battle—A Columbus County View.
