New outreach approach in Energy Assistance yields more applications, happy participants

The Energy Assistance Program team in the Clackamas County Social Services Division has developed a variety of new activities that enable them to reach participants before they receive a utility shut-off. Maintaining utility service costs much less than reconnecting service, meaning EA can serve more folks if they can get them to enroll sooner – see newsletter for examples of new Energy Assistance outreach activities.

Stackable Credentials Are Worth the Effort

What's a "stackable" credential? Are they truly valuable? Is it worth the effort for community colleges to develop them? In a word: yes.  CLASP strongly supports career pathways that help low-income and lower-educated workers get well-paying jobs that are in demand. Many career pathways use shorter-term credentials that can be earned all at once or more slowly over time.
