WACOG is a governmental non-profit dedicated to serving its member entities, income challenged households, and vulnerable populations in Yuma, La Paz, and Mohave Counties. WACOG is an umbrella organization and serves as the designated Community Action Agency for these three counties.
Under general direction, plans, directs, organizes and controls the Fiscal Department in performing professional accounting duties and in the analysis, preparation and maintenance of financial records, statements and reports. Directs, develops and represents WACOG’s annual budgets, makes complex and difficult financial and accounting analyses; provides expert professional assistance to management, board, managers and staff on financial, accounting, budgeting and related matters; safeguard agency’s assets and the disbursement of funds; and performs related duties as assigned. The Controller oversees the WACOG accounting system and accounting staff.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with specialization in business, management, finance, accounting, public accounting or a closely related field. At least 5 years of experience in a related accounting/finance position, dealing with multiple grants and contracts, including relevant experience with a nonprofit organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience in finance/accounting maybe considered. Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and standard practices including budgetary control and grant management. Knowledge and training in principles and standard practices of public administration. Experience in full-charge accounting through financial statements. Experience in managing federal and state grants. Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in financial planning and administration, including considerable responsible supervisory experience. Experience with MS Word and Excel, including experiencing creating spreadsheets/charts; internet use; and accounting software (MIP experience preferred).
