Spotlight on the States - State and local governments, community-based organizations and other non-profits play a significant role in implementing policies and programs to reduce poverty and promote opportunity.

Issue Areas

Issue Areas focus on select topics that are critical to understanding the full scope of poverty in the United States and the steps lawmakers must take to ensure that low-income Americans have access to economic mobility.  Each topic area offers the latest news, research and opinions from policymakers, advocates and experts in the field.
