NYSCAA's RPIC Region II Human Resource, Finance, and Leadership Conference

CSBG Ann Kagie Award
Tim Brogan, NYS Department of State, Division of Community Services was the recipient of the 2016 CSBG Ann Kagie Award presented at NASCSP's Mid-Winter Training Conference in February.
Jennifer Underwood, NJ CAP/OCS & Jackie Orr, NYSCAA present at NASCSP!
The workshop, entitled Building Collaborative Relationships between the RPICs, State CSBG Office, and State Associations focused on building positive working relationships and strong state-wide collaborations. Jackie and Jen were on a panel with other CSBG State Office and Association staff who spoke about the value of a solid working relationship between State Associations and State CSBG offices. They spoke specifically about how the RPIC infrastructure in Region II has lent itself to a strong interstate collaboration between NYSCAA and the NJ State office. The Partnership is seeking success stories from local Community Action Agencies and State Associations that address success in the systems change and impact health outcomes. These stories will be used as part of a grant application to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, specifically for their Awards for Healthy Equity Program…These success stories should be short, no more than 250 words. Assets & Opportunity Scorecard
The new 2016 Assets and Opportunity Scorecard has been released. The Scorecard is the leading source for data on household financial security and policy solutions. Assets & Opportunity Network also conducted a webinar with CFED's team of experts who walked listeners through the latest data on 130 measures for all 50 states and the District of Columbia that reveal how well Americans are faring in their quest for financial security. They also spoke to the many tools that available in the 2016 Scorecard.
Homelessness in America
National Alliance to End Homelessness has a new interactive tool that shows homelessness in the 25 highest populated metro areas in 2015. The 25 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S. have 42 percent of the total population, but 53 percent of the homelessness population.
Community Action Pioneer, Virginia McLaurin Honored at White House
In case you missed it, one of our very own has made national news! Ms. Virginia McLaurin is one of Community Action's most dedicated Foster Grandparents and honored as "The Woman of the Year" by DC's Commission for Women by Wendy Spencer was invited to The White House and danced with the Obama's. Ms. Virginia McLaurin, 106 year old, was honored as a Community Action Pioneer at the Community Action Partnership's 50th Anniversary Gala dinner back in 2014
