Connecting to Your Elected Officials

This month we have renamed the policy column "Connecting with Your Elected Officials."  For this month only we are using the column to provide you with a variety of resources - bookmark those links, save this newsletter, do what works for you - but make sure you have the information handy so when the policy issues arise you are ready!


Nominations for the 2015 Community Action Awards are still open – Leadership Award, Personal Achievement Award, The Service Award, The Community Action Vision and Values Award and The Innovation Award – deadline is April 24.  Submissions after this date will be considered in 2016.

ProAction of Steuben and Yates has shared very sad news with the Network.  Stephanie Bates, Special Projects Manager at ProAction, has passed away after an accident at her home.  Stephanie lived and breathed the mission of Community Action - she brought passion and dedication to her work every day.  Stephanie was also a member of the NYSCAA CCAP cohort and was scheduled to sit for the CCAP exam in June.  All of us here at NYSCAA are devastated by the loss of our colleague and friend.

Schenectady Community Action Program (SCAP) tried a new approach this year to cross-train their team of more than 130 staff, implementing SCAP 101, a series of monthly presentations for the staff by the staff…
