Policy Update
This week we join other Community Action advocates in Washington, DC for the NCAF Legislative Conference and visits with New York's representatives in our nation's capital…
Last week NYSCAA was pleased to participate in two policy events. On Friday, March 20, the New York State Assembly Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force held a press conference in Albany to bring the child poverty rates of New York's largest cities to light…At the same time, Secretary of State Cesar Perales and others were addressing another group in Utica about the governor's efforts to raise minimum wage in NYS…
Last month 18 different Community Action Agencies were represented by 27 individuals who made calls and sent e-mails to their New York State Legislators as part of NYSCAA's Virtual Legislative Day.

New York's Community Action Network visits with elected officials in Washington DC – Executive Directors, Board Members and Staff from New York's Community Action Agencies visited Washington DC this month for annual visits to elected officials.
Nominations for the 2015 Community Action Awards are open – Leadership Award, Personal Achievement Award, The Service Award, The Community Action Vision and Values Award and The Innovation Award.
Emerging Leaders Meet – The 2015 group of Emerging Leaders met for the first time at the Leadership Seminar in February…The group got to know each other through some team building activities and participated in workshops about Advocacy, the History of Community Action and Bridges Out of Poverty…

Niagara Community Action Program, Inc. was the recipient of the proceeds from the fifth annual Snowflake Ball in North Tonawanda.
CEO's Youthbuild program was recently honored for the program's contribution to the community. Troy Mayor Lou Rosamilia officially designated March 12 as Troy YouthBuild Day…
On April 1, 2015 from 9 AM to 1 PM, Saratoga County EOP hosts over 100 health and human service agencies at the23rd annual Interagency Awareness Day.
PathStone Corp. recently received a $697,690 grant to strengthen neighborhoods through housing and community development initiatives. The agency received the grant through the national NeighborWorks network… The funds will be used to create affordable housing opportunities in New York and other areas where PathStone operates.
