“Inequality For All” film screening for legislators

The documentary “Inequality for All” was presented to the community and elected officials on January 8 in the Idaho State Capitol Building in Boise.  This free event was put on by the Community Council of Idaho, the Community Action Partnership of Idaho (CAPAI), and District 19 Idaho House Representative Mat Erpelding – see news release announcing the event.

“Inequality for All” is a documentary by Robert Reich that examines widening income inequality in the United States.  Reich was a top political economist under U.S. presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, and was Secretary of Labor under Bill Clinton.  Reich calls this documentary “a passionate argument on behalf of the middle class.”  It was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Traverse City Film Festival 2013.

“I was interested in bringing this film to Idaho in order to provide an educational vehicle for our elected officials to understand the importance of the programs provided statewide by our member organizations,” said Christina Zamora, CAPAI executive director.

There were approximately 40 people attending including two legislators.  The panel discussion was great and CAPAI recommends seeing this movie: “it really simplifies in layman’s terms what has been happening with the economy.”
